History

Founded In 1986

Initially, the school started as remedial institution in 1986. however in view of our excellent G.C.E/U.M.E turnouts coupled with pressure from our well-wishers and admirers to run a regular secondary school soon held sway. Thus in September 1994, the secondary school took off-paripassu with a Nursery/Primary School.

The schools were born under the name Obaro Educational Centre with a low enrollment figures of 9 pupils in the Nursery/Primary section and 11 students in the secondary school.

Today, owing to the tireless devotion to duty by the staff of establishment, all the classes in the Nursery/Primary school have emerged while the secondary school has grown to maturity with classes running from J.S. 1 to SS 3. Obaro Secondary School is a mixed day institution consisting of both the Junior Secondary and the Senior Secondary School.

Historical Milestone

By the grace of God, we have recorded some outstanding achievements within our short span of existence in the educational sector which has become very competitive these days.

It is worthy of note that our secondary unit is ahead of many other secondary schools in the state in various subjects area including Mathematics and English Studies. Our brilliant outing in school’s quiz and competition testifies to this fact. In 1995, Obaro Secondary School, then a young school with only J.S 2 students yield, emerged the overall winner in the Edo State Secondary School Quiz Competition organized by City Business Connexion (CBC).

Our young school became the cynosure of all eyes in a competition featuring premier state institutions like I. C. C St. Maria Goretti and elitist schools like Igbinedion Educational Centre, etc. There was no art to conceive what our tender J. S 2 students could do against the academically more advanced and experienced SS3 students of those elder institutions. But contrary to public rating, our school beat four schools in quick succession to qualify to the semi-final round of the competition. Then, came the clash of the titans in which our school ousted other more formidable contestants, and finally rode to stardom at the final and decisive round on the 17th of July 1995.

Again in 1997, our young school made history when our student clinched the first, second and third prizes in the national Essay/Art Competitions. The enviable performance of our students gave Edo State the 3rd place ticket in the country while Abuja and oyo State took 1st and 2nd positions respectively. You might have heard of it or seen it on the television when the Director, Edo State Ministry of Education, Benin City gave the prize at the Board Room of the ministry on Friday 24th October, 1997.

Furthermore, in the same year (1997), one of our student made distinctions (A’s) in all his ten subjective in the 1997 Junior School Certificate Examination (J.S.C.E).

There no doubt that we have proved our worth in the scheme of things within our short period of existence. I do assure all prospective pupils and students of a bright academic career.

It is worthy to note that most of our WAEC completed students walked straight to the universities, that we have produced Doctors, Engineers, Accountants, Bankers, etc that one of our ex-students made a 1st class in Physics at Uniben ans has now been retained as a lecturer by the University.

In furthermore of that, Obaro Educational Centre came 3rd position in the Drama series conducted by the National Food and Drugs Administration and Control Safety Consumer Club held in Benin City.
